ROXBURY RUSSET (1 tree).
First apple developed in America.
Grown in Roxbury, Massachusetts, by Joseph Warren, who died in 1755 of a broken neck, after falling from a ladder while picking apples .
This apple stored well even before refrigeration.
May appear soft, but flesh remains crisp.
Flavor enhances in storage.
A favorite of russet fanciers.
