Lodi

Ripens July 4th in Louisville.

Tastes like Granny Smith. Must be picked green. It is ripe when the fruit swells and falls easily in hand when picked.

When cooked with a little water, it turns to wonderful applesauce. (Although some magical people can make pies of it, generally speaking, it only makes applesauce pie.)

Once the fruit is set, there is no need to spray. Lodi ripens so early, summer fruit diseases never have a chance.

Keeps if refrigerated.
