Gift Boxes and Baskets

Apple Gift Boxes will not be available during the 2007 season, but we hope for a bumper crop next year.

Apples are always great gifts. They have satisfied the palates of Kings, and staved off hunger for the poorest of the poor. To give an apple is to give good health, as in the Old English saying, "Ate an apfel avore gwain to bed, makes the doctor beg his bread." In the 7th century BC apples were so precious newlyweds would share an apple to symbolize their shared happiness. Scottish maidens threw apple peels over their shoulders to see the initial of their future intended. At Rosh Hashanah apples dipped in honey symbolize a sweetness for the Jewish New Year. And at Christmas in Williamsburg, lady apples were used in decorations, and other good keeping apples given as winter treats for children.
